Updated: May. 20, 2022, 5:10 p.m. |New Pike Road coach Ed Rigby meets players after he is introduced as the school's football coach. Rigby was announced as the Patriots’ new head coach Friday morning.
Rigby comes to Pike Road from Eufaula. During four seasons with the Tigers, he led them to a 28-18 record and four straight Class 6A playoff appearances. “When the committee selected him and when I did my research, I knew this is the man for Pike Road,” said Keith Lankford, superintendent of Pike Road Schools. “I am excited about the future and everyone moving forward together.”Pike Road Principal Andrea Maness said Rigby is a good fit for the school and the community.
Prior to Eufaula, Rigby was the head coach at Elba High School from 2013-2017 and guided the Class 2A Tigers to a 53-12 record, a state title and one runner-up finish. Since beginning his coaching career in 1994, he has coached at the collegiate and high school levels and has 20 years experience as a high school head coach.“When you come into a new place, you have your own spin and your own way you want to do things.
