The science on cannabis as a mental-health treatment for anxiety and depression is in its infancy, psychologists and researchers say—and some evidence suggests that marijuana can make these problems worse

Wary of side effects from conventional drugs, some people are using cannabis as a treatment. Doctors aren’t sure that’s a good idea.

Black people comprise only a small percentage of those profiting from the burgeoning legalized pot market, according to state data. Public initiatives and private funds, like one started by Jay-Z, aim to boost minority participation. Photo: Rob Alcaraz/The Wall Street Journal

Adverse reactions are well documented

mind ya business

when you see people who have not seen lives destroyed by cannabis defending it I just smile because they don't know. you need a scientific research a walk around some neighborhood in some countries would open your eyes

Not a serious headline, from a supercilious rag.🙄 As an investor, the wsj is as irrelevant as a Tupelo astrology chart. And “Rupert” is a name a mother bestows, when she hates men & gets stuck w/ another dude.

THC never helped me relax and always gave me insomnia

IMO Big Pharma can’t be blamed for disparate research data, as soon as cannabis goes federal the head start for the little companies will be over. And Big Retail will be the target

Yeah. They should use ivermectin instead. Who cares what the science says?

While I do find that cannabis helps me with chronic pain and PTSD, I don’t use it if I’m feeling at all anxious, not only doesn’t it help, it makes it noticeably worse.

I'm sure those scientists and researchers are vaccinated 🤦

Like I care? I'm no way depressed. I just like getting twat faced on my own couch!

What biased news WSJ! Probably sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry. Years of studies and positive results related to the use of cannabis are certainly less relevant than hypotheses based on 'evidence'. Much better to use Zoloft and Paxil, which cause significant side effects

💯 but no one will tell you that when it has become a mainstream corporate multi billion dollar industry

Nope. Helps

You realize there are many strains and all are not the same. DM me and I can get you some hourly consultations going so you can post some better material on this.

The Research here was funded by big pharma. pharma is aware of the healing power of CBD and THC. Cannabis is probably more effective in comparison to the SSRIs and other meds that are pushed by the biggest drug dealers in America, a pharmaceutical sales rep.

Addiction is the last

200 years ago, China called opium the 'miracle medicine of happiness', which can make people full of hope and happiness. I wish Americans can also obtain such a sense of happiness, stupid human beings. . .

Depressed people turn to smoke weed, this is a bad combo as you’re not able to deal with the depression while you’re high. You’re just masking it for the meantime. Once high wears off you’re back to square one. So weed doesn’t cause depression, its weed doesn’t treat depression

“Paranoia strikes deep.”

Them pills been making people worse weed has no harmful properties like the ones found in xanax

Reefer madness. These studies are sponsored by big pharma & then pushed out by corporate media for propaganda. It’s amazing how some people still haven’t figured out that all we are is sheep & big pharma sees us as ways to make money not make our lives better.

it worked for me so ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Never play with the brain, the brain is built to heal itself.

Works for me ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

My ancestors used it and so will I.

No sh*t. They started with the conclusion (cannabis is medicine) and worked their way backwards. Hope it doesn’t derail the legalization movement. Medicine or not it’s no one’s business.

Seems to cause a lot of mental illness when mixed with the leftist mindset!

Pills help but have horrible side effects such as becoming a walking zombie and committing mass shootings. Weed helps but has horrible side effects such as going into a state of paranoia psychosis and depression. Alcohol helps but has horrible side effects such as wet brain.

Pure Murdoch bullshit

Helps me.

around 500K deaths a year in US. around 41K deaths from the smoke alone a year in US. Most littered 'thing' on your 70% water planet. LEGAL. ON EVERY BLOCK. You can get a shot and buy cartons at the Corner of Happy & Healthy Walgreens

Amen! Walgreens

I suffer from depression, anxiety & insomnia and I've been on prescribed drugs for years & for the past few yrs added pot and it has helped. Just like the prescribed drugs (which I've decided to stop this yr), it is trial & error 2 c what works. Try it out for urself 2 c & decide

No you're missing it. I'm on the anti-depressants AND weed...

I’ve seen people using mj go into severe psychosis, especially if they have underlying bipolar, schizophrenia or other mental health issues. I’m all for it for those in pain but I can’t see it helping sufferers of mental health issues. I do believe it would make it much worse.

wow, they just don’t know what works..

Say what you want, Cannabis works for PTSD.

No medication can cure anxiety or depression. Studies across the board mirror most drug use - increased use often shows a reduction of effectiveness. These can be good for initial handling, but over time anyone who’s taken a psych med, will tell you it doesn’t cut it.

Dandy way to get fuzzyheaded and depressed if overdone.

Young People Say Disconnect Keeps Them From Church“I struggle to see myself within that community because of who I am.” A new survey suggests that many young people perceive a disconnect between themselves and houses of worship. Jesus said, 'There will come a time, when ppl will no longer worship in churches built by men.' Perhaps now is the time to turn our houses of worship, into places that serve the needs of the poor, those on skid row, & single mothers in our communities Then young ppl will return That's because young people today don't want to be classified at all, for fear of being called a racist, homophobic, transphobic, white supremacist or any other derogatory thing. Today's world is pushing us away from traditional religion and into a 'hiding' spirituality. stay and do something about it. doing nothing is the chosen path of losers.
