“I struggle to see myself within that community because of who I am.” A new survey suggests that many young people perceive a disconnect between themselves and houses of worship.

in recent years, including among young adults and teens. A new survey suggests that many young people perceive a disconnect between themselves and the houses of worship that need believers to sustain their congregations.

Half of young people ages 13 to 25 surveyed said they don’t think that religious institutions care as much as they do about issues that matter deeply to them, according toby the Springtide Research Institute, a nonpartisan nonprofit. Those issues include racial justice, gender equity, immigration rights, income inequality and gun control. Springtide tracks the views of American teens and young adults.

Maybe they should try a different church. I’ve found it to be beneficial.

For several years, people (especially youth) have been unplugging from many of life's major institutions: Church, government, employer, marriage...

No church is perfect, as churches are composed of human beings. Certainly very easy to find cases of hypocrisy or whatever you want to look for. Yet I find my church highly beneficial. Just like working out, afterwards I’m always glad I went. Today was exactly that.

A lot of young people are actually inspired deeply by their faith. Let’s read uplifting stories about them!

It’s not just the young people.

With God's Word The Holy Bible You Cannot Go Wrong Answers Every Question Known To Mankind If You Read It With An Open Heart Quotes Republican President Mark Patrick Seymour

Organized religion has sadly been behind the curve versus the secular world in terms of science, tolerance and human rights.

Young people never have been very smart?

I'm not superstitious therefore I don't go to church.

As prophesied, Satan is working hard to win over his kingdom that will perish. Very sad that Satan had won so many over.

Believing isn't required. The concepts and morals you learn through stories provides a ton of value. They hold true regardless of your belief system.

Not just young people.

Jesus embraced everyone and tried to exemplify members of society with little standing. Churches are falling bc members are not Christian. This country is fast devolving. To get a gun is to decide to kill. Lots of potential murderers out there. Not very appealing. Not Christian.

Is religion supposed to ape society? Or is it supposed proclaim truth, which doesn’t change?

I can think of a lot of other reasons for the disconnect.

If only there was a source of absolute truth that held the facts ... maybe a collection of scriptures inspired by the Lord to lead us ...

WSJ handle and the framing of tweet can only make one think of religion as business losing loyal customers

This seems like a made up thing. Don’t fall for it.

In what way is sustaining imaginary friendships a good thing?

Can we not escape the “LGBT” whining anywhere?

Evangelicals are the worst the human race can offer.

Couple of months ago I came across a recommendation about Randy_Jones11 wealth how he helped investors to earn lots of money with their investments. and I decided to give a trial with the little I have. Now my little has turned into something great which was not my expectation

When I last visited my parents in Nova Scotia, their church minister would not meet me in person when I asked the church for help. They sent a rep with a check to help me cover rent. I must have quite the reputation. The motel owner renovicted me the next month.

Also logic and the wisening of mankind makes it hard to believe foundational and fundamental stories it’s built upon.

this is terrible news

I teach religious studies, and I'm from a white evangelical background. I'm watching this happen right in front of my eyes, Republicans are killing Christianity, and they're doing it in the name of 'Jesus'

stay and do something about it. doing nothing is the chosen path of losers.

That's because young people today don't want to be classified at all, for fear of being called a racist, homophobic, transphobic, white supremacist or any other derogatory thing. Today's world is pushing us away from traditional religion and into a 'hiding' spirituality.

Jesus said, 'There will come a time, when ppl will no longer worship in churches built by men.' Perhaps now is the time to turn our houses of worship, into places that serve the needs of the poor, those on skid row, & single mothers in our communities Then young ppl will return
