U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday urged a restart of congressional talks on extending coronavirus aid, saying executive actions taken by President Donald Trump a day earlier would have little immediate impact on Americans facing economic distress amid the pandemic.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, meanwhile, left the door open to resuming negotiations, saying he would consider any new proposal from Democrats and encouraged a compromise bill on areas of agreement such as food assistance.

Both sides appeared willing to consider a narrower deal that would extend aid until the end of the year and then revisit the need for more federal assistance in January, after November’s election.“We don’t have to get everything done at once,” he added. “What we should do is get things done for the American public now, come back for another bill afterwards.”

Pelosi, in a separate interview on “Fox News Sunday,” dismissed the executive orders and memorandums Trump signed on Saturday as “illusions” that would not quickly or directly help Americans, and said a deal between congressional Democrats and the White House was still needed. “Right now, we need to come to agreement,” she said, adding that Democrats could shorten the length of time aid is provided in order to bring the bill’s costs down closer to the Trump administration’s proposal.

“We could talk about how long our provisions would be in effect, so we can take things down — instead of the end of September of next year, a shorter period of time — and we’ll revisit all next year anyway,” Pelosi told Fox News. Our Standards:

Because Trump forced their hands or are they basically ignoring Trump’s actions as inconsequential?

McConnell is a worthless, lazy, hateful sack of 💩. The Senate had months to negotiate with the House after the House passed a new bill. He refused to do it then and he is refusing to do it now. Most of us don't get paid if we don't do our jobs.

Trump forces them back to the table after threatening executive action.

Pelosi will only be happy if she gets tax relief for the rich in CA and NY.

pretenders all love money coming their way

And it only took 5 months for them to have this conversation that we have been asking them to have for 5 months.

How dare he!

These cheap scum bag politicians better resume talking and sending out stimulus checks to seniors.

Duh, Pelosi isn’t the one who slammed their fist on the desk and walked out.

The worm turns

Pelosi just wants to make sure that every possible Terrorist gets their Aid too.

The white house needs to stop the executive orders stunt, and get back to the negotiating table.

Nah, just let it go. I bought stock in Acme Guillotine Corp.

Trump couldn't be reached on the 8th tee.

The Marshall Project: 'Prisons are not closed systems' due to staff, new admissions“It’s easy to think of prisons as being closed systems, but that’s really not the case,” Katie Park of The Marshall Project says of U.S. prisons experiencing widespread COVID-19 outbreaks. Oh well. Give them a mask and they should be ok. Problem solved The time has come for harsh truth. The AVERAGE age of death from COVID is 75. It is not a threat to 0-65, and healthy. That sounds cold, but it is fact. So why is the Nation shut down? It is a LIE. Don't let these vile criminals out. Simply give them masks and solitary confinement until this all passes. That's what they deserve, as anti-social lawbreakers.

Why are some people with coronavirus asymptomatic — and why are they so contagious? Why are some people with coronavirus asymptomatic — and why are they so contagious? New research sheds light on asymptomatic transmission is 'the Achilles’ heel of COVID-19.' Even if 95% of the population is asymptomatic or show mild symptoms, 5% represents 16.5 million with severe symptoms and if 5% of those die, it represents 825,000 Americans. Physical separation and masks are the only game in town till we get a vaccine with high efficacy. Absent from all the scaremongering is the fact that this was an engineered bioweapon. I can only imagine the desired outcome.
