On Sept. 14, 2020, officers were called to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Brenner Street in Newark and found 50-year-old Jerry Works Jr. in a common hallway of a building suffering from a gunshot wound, the office said. Works Jr. was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m.
An investigation eventually led to the arrests of Ibn Hill, 22, and Tyquan Zigler, 27, both of Newark, authorities said. Hill was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and weapons related offenses while Zigler was charged with conspiracy to commit murder It was unclear when they were arrested. A spokesman for the office could not immediately be reached for clarification.
