The plea for censure started back in September from Ozark citizens upset with how Blankenship talked about the content in the Ozark Dale County Library young adult section and comments made about certain citizens.

Ozark residents made a push for the censure a month ago following Mayor Mark Blankenship's online comments surrounding library content and other citizens.from Ozark citizens upset with how Blankenship talked about the content in the Ozark Dale County Library young adult section and comments made about certain citizens.

“Censuring the Mayor is not anything I would have ever wanted to do. Mayor Blankenship has done a remarkable job on many projects that have had a very positive impact on the city of Ozark and its citizens. I want to be clear that this resolution of censure has absolutely nothing to do with the Mayors personal opinions or views, but is the direct result of his actions and behavior toward private citizens of Ozark.

“I believe that being an elected official comes with the great responsibility of maintaining professionalism and decorum, especially in adverse situations, because we are representing our city at all times. Yes, it can be extremely challenging, but it’s the job we signed up for.
