Opinion: The first big 'reset' interview for Beto O’Rourke

Former representative and Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke in New London, N.H., on May 10. By Jennifer Rubin Jennifer Rubin Opinion writer covering politics and policy, foreign and domestic Email Bio Follow Opinion writer May 14 at 12:00 PM Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, in the first major media stop on his reset tour, sat down with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Monday night.

When the conversation did turn to substance — wow, on foreign policy no less! — O’Rourke did several things quite well. O’Rourke noted that when Trump sucks up to these autocrats, he calls into question whether democracy or authoritarianism is the way forward. Preferring dictators over democratically-elected Western leaders, he said, weakens a key component of our strength, namely our alliances.

He also made some base-pleasing but entirely appropriate comments about the need to work with our allies and others on problems that traverse borders, such as climate change.

How do you reset the 'Titanic'.

Reset for White PRIVILEGE? C’mon now people! You think we are fools BetoORourke ?

He’s been carved out of cream cheese

Unfortunately, if you listen closely to what he says it's like Chinese food - You're hungry an hour later. Beto was a bubble.

Beto and other Democrat candidates are on their apology tours now, apologizing for everything under the sun. These people would be very weak as leaders.

And Beto still sux, just like Washington compost. Both are full of 💩

Reset to 'not running for president'

BET HE LOSES 23-O.

Dude,, You couldn't even beat Ted

Beto has zero shot, maybe see if anyone at this paper can cover Bernie without it being a hit piece or using polling data from a nursing home

The media/dems picked Biden. For obvious company reasons. The so called liberal voting base,, aka misinformed is on tap if need be..

curious to know if he has spent any significant amount of time outside the US

What 'reset?' The guy's a loser!

This time, driving while not drunk.

Perhaps I'll do a reset. Pretend to be who I am not. Perhaps I'll never say a mean thing about a liberal again. But reality would rear its ugly head and slap me back down. I am who I am. So is BetoORourke Judge how you will.

Baseball cap = young and rebellious

I’m tired of seeing white knock off Obama on my timeline. Thanks.

Report: Employers Know Within First 5 Minutes Of Job Interview Whether They Will Murder ApplicantNEW YORK—Confirming years of anecdotal evidence on workplace hiring practices, a new study conducted by psychologists at New York University has found that employers typically know within the first five minutes of a job interview with a prospective employee whether or not they will murder the applicant. “First impressions are everything, and our research shows that no matter how good someone looks on paper, an employer can generally tell almost as soon as a job applicant walks through the door if this is someone they will soon violently kill,” lead researcher Dr. Laura Hollander said of the study, adding that initial factors such as an applicant’s eye contact, facial expression, energy level, and posture are often all that’s needed for employers to know for certain if they are going to slit that person’s throat and stuff their corpse in a supply closet. “One seasoned human resources manager, for example, told us that he typically knows as soon as the first handshake whether he’s going to murder an applicant on the spot or, alternatively, follow the applicant home that evening and bash his or her head in with a rock. Sure, once in a while an applicant can really shine at the end of an interview and overcome an unimpressive start, but in general, people need to be on their game from minute one if they want to prove to prospective employers that they’re someone who deserves to live.” Researchers added that despite the study’s intimidating findings, job applicants can improve their odds of surviving the first interview by preparing responses for a range of potential questions, dressing professionally, and always carrying a concealed weapon in an ankle holster. Guess I should get a job and hope I get lucky KarenKilgariff It's true. They'll work them to death
