Opinion: In the battle over impeachment, Trump and the GOP have fired the first shots

By E.J. Dionne Jr. E.J. Dionne Jr. Columnist covering national politics Email Bio Follow Columnist May 8 at 5:30 PM Our nation does not have to face a constitutional crisis, but we are barreling toward one at breakneck speed. The House should not have to move quickly toward impeachment, but it may now have little choice.

He said this despite special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report describing so many instances of obstruction of justice that nearly 800 former federal prosecutors signed a letter declaring that were Trump not president, the findings would lead to “multiple felony charges.” Case closed? There are Republicans who purport to care about more than Trump’s well-being and comfort. With McConnell clearly all-in on the president’s twisting of the law and flouting of Congress’s legitimate authority, Republican senators who claim to care about the Constitution need to speak up. And they should do so now , not after they have had weeks or months to put their fingers to the wind. Where are Sens.

With Republicans cheering on Trump’s campaign to block Congress’s access to witnesses and documents, House Democrats have fewer and fewer options short of impeachment to establish that the rule of law still exists.

More satisfaction in watching the trump’s leave the WH with their tails between their legs after the most epic, landslide defeat of any President in US history. Trump is a broke joke. No other Pres has required a babysitter to save him from himself like trump. He’s useless.

Hey Democrat Tyrants, who are you going to hold in contempt today? Who are you going to have arrested? You are abusing your power. You are guilty of corruption.

SDNY.

And Democrats are armed with blanks.

The President will have the dims screaming for him to pull it out

Whether impeached or not, he's clearly im'pear'ed.

How many billions in debt

Trump is not a hawk. He is a Kremlin vulture who brought the troops from Syria and Afghanistan.

And why is the Republican party Trump's party?)

He is still president while he gives Americans the finger ;) kind of paradox and now he wants to start a war

By the first shot you clearly meant the second, right?

JABBA THE HUT

DirtyDems

There will be no impeachment... the Democrats have waged war against the will of the people. It is time to fight back.

You will not be able to stop Barr from investigating how the Russia investigation began and how the Dems used that investigation for subversion and sedition. The truth is coming.

*Pounds his head on the tabletop.

Zero collusion losers

Remember when AG Barr dubbed himself the president’s “wingman”? Oh wait....No, that was former AG Eric Holder speaking about his best buddy Obama. 'I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, there’s still work to be done. I’m still the President’s wing-man, so I’m there with my boy.'

LMAO Washington Post is a parody of itself

1. The Mueller report documents 11 examples of Trump obstructing justice. 2. It also documents evidence of Russians and the Trump campaign working together to elect trump. 3. Mueller couldn’t prove criminal conspiracy because Trump and his crew obstructed justice so effectively.

stonewall using white privilege not making any argument on merits when Dems in the WH, they will flip their position about presidential power

Impeach, please.

Good luck with that. Every republican in America is praying you’re that stupid. Believe that.

Democrats are all talk. They’ll never impeach him

GOP’s impeachment double standardEvery Republican serving now in the Congress who voted to impeach Bill Clinton is using a different set of principles today in defending President Trump. One of Kenneth Starr's prosecutors is not and thinks Trump should be impeached. Paul Rosenzweig joins Lawrence O’Donnell. Or maybe it’s about justifying 2 1/2 wasted years Both parties are switching sides not just GOP - ole Bill was lauded at the 2016 DNC Wonder what changed

Opinion | Schiff: The case for impeachment hearings is getting strongerThe House Intelligence Committee chairman says Trump's stonewalling could ultimately leave no choice. Please do it, the landslide in 2020 is growing The democrats think if they cry and complain loud enough, the special counsel will somehow start up again and somehow change their verdict after starting up again. So silly, who among us hasn’t welcomed help from the enemy and then obstructed a little justice? People are just taking the Constitution and Trump’s oath of office WAY too seriously.

House and Senate GOP ready for battle to woo Liz CheneyThe tug-of-war over Rep. Liz Cheney underscores the serious woman problem in the party, with Republicans on both ends of the Capitol eager to bolster their relatively thin ranks of female lawmakers if this vile woman is the best they got then they are so screwed. The last one wasn't enough? Look at the embarrassments in the other party, and decide what's worse: having few women, or having clownshows?
