JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — One person died in a shooting with two Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies Thursday night, the Jeffco Sheriff's Office told Denver7.
The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Thursday near Kipling Street and Interstate 70, the Jeffco sheriff's public information officer said. When the deputy realized the license plates on the car were expired, he called for backup, according to the sheriff's office. When two more deputies arrived, the driver and passenger of the stopped car got out and were walking around. They both ignored commands from officers to get back inside the car, the Jeffco Sheriff's Office said.
The person involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital, and was later pronounced dead, the Jeffco Sheriff's Office said.We’re on scene of an officer-involved shooting at I-70 & Kipling St. No deputies injured.
