Ohio State University retired professor wins 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics

Pierre Agostini, a retired Ohio State University professor, is one of three recipients of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work to measure the movement of electrons with extremely short bursts of light. COLUMBUS, Ohio—Retired Ohio State University professor Pierre Agostini was one of three scientists awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday for their work to study the movement of electrons.

In 2001, Agostini generated a series of light pulses, each lasting just 250 attoseconds, the Nobel Prize release stated. Agostini became an OSU professor emeritus in 2018. He’s the fourth individually named Nobel laureate from Ohio State,Krausz and L’Hullier are a professor of experimental physics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and a professor of atomic physics at Lund University in Sweden, respectively.
