The Ohio Department of Health has now reported 2,072,663 since the beginning of the pandemic, meaning about 1-in-6 Ohioans is known to have contracted the virus. However, the latest reports may be understated.

on Monday reported 18,942 new cases of COVID-19, above the 21-day reported case average of 13,602.

“Due to the high volume of cases being reported during the current COVID-19 surge, not all cases reported in the past 24 hours may have been fully processed and may not appear on the current trends dashboard today,” Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic early last year now stands at 29,447. COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old.

Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 14,458 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 701 among people reported to be fully vaccinated.
