Abdirizak Farah, 59, pleaded guilty Monday to to conspiring to commit bank fraud.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The founder of two Columbus charter schools and former adviser for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison after he admitted to using money from the schools to purchase a $900,000 home.

Prosecutors say court documents show that in August 2020, Farah used $265,000 from a Focus Learning bank account toward the purchase a $900,000 home in New Albany.
