For state-level projects, the budget plan earmarks $600 million for K-12 school building construction and renovation, around $475 million for state colleges and universities, nearly $378 million for state parks and natural resources, about $314 million to renovate state prisons and county jails, more than $290 million for parks and recreation improvements, more than $196 million towardOf the $475 million or so in money for higher education, about $17.

All together, the capital budget would allocate more than $100 million toward community projects in Cuyahoga County, more than $30.4 million for Summit County, $16.7 million for Lorain County, $11.5 million for Lake County, $10.5 million for Medina County, and $8.7 million for Geauga County. However, this year’s capital budget is larger than usual – in part because it includes $700 million for one-time projects using unanticipated “surplus” tax revenue that the state collected last fiscal year.
