A police officer responding to a call early Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas, fired a shot into the window of a woman's home, striking and killing her.The Fort Worth Police Department did not release the name of the officer, ABC Dallas-Forth Worth affiliate WFAA reported.
"Perceiving a threat," a statement from the police said,"the officer drew his duty weapon and fired one shot striking the person inside the residence." The officer, who's been with the department since April 2018, has been placed on administrative leave.James Smith, a neighbor, told WFAA he'd called the non-emergency police number after seeing lights on and the front door open at the woman's home.
Police officers who commit manslaughter, accidental killings or out and out murder should be banned from police work and from carrying a weapon at a minimum. They have demonstrated their unfitness for law enforcement careers.
This is sad! He never identified himself as Police. That should’ve been the first thing he said. How was she supposed to know who was in her yard. I’m sure her and her nephew were scared not knowing what was going on. Of course she’s going to look out the window. SAD!!!

There’s more to this story than is being told here. If the woman was in no danger, or there was no dangerous situation, why did the neighbor call in a wellness check. They had to be worried about something.

Another tragic consequence of having guns-a-plenty. It's completely legal to hold a gun in your hand in your own home, and it's completely legal for a police officer to defend himself from a perceived threat. Who is to blame? Maybe politicians who value money over lives?
