A new report from the Legal Aid Society found that New York City paid out $121 million in police misconduct settlements last year.

Police were named in multiple wrongful conviction lawsuits last year, including the exoneration of two men in the assassination of Malcolm X, and numerous misconduct claims following 2020 protests after the murder of George Floyd.

The NYPD released a statement saying, "The NYPD often engages in dialogue with the NYC Law Department as it relates to police action lawsuits. That collaboration has helped to reduce the number of lawsuits and claims being filed against this Department as well as reduce the payouts for both.

The Legal Aid Society said that the total payouts for police misconduct are likely to be substantially higher because the data does not account for matters that were settled with the New York City Comptroller's office prior to formal litigation.

and guess what, that’s included in their budget plan. Want to fix this? Have $100 million dollar lawsuits minimum. Watch how quick the NYPD implements disciplinary changes, laws and new training methods when it costs them billions a year from their budget.

People are chopping people up in pieces throwing their babies in garbage pails and stabbing each other to death. And we blame the police?

Hmm where else can nyc have money to give for the mta without price congestion? 🛑 WITH POLICE MISCONDUCT!!

So that's alot less than they paid for all new cars after the 2020 Riots in N.Y.C.

I'm still waiting for the city to pay out for illegal jab mandates!!!

Taxpayers footing the bill. Liability insurance is needed.

Unfortunately, not Surprised.

Take the money out of their retirement fund

The money should come out of the NYPD retirement fund. If the fund goes bankrupt then tough luck.
