Excellent! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We should be doing this nationwide!

Sounds good. More police departments/States should follow. Yes. Guns are unable to protect people. The major beneficiaries of the Guns are the Gun Lobbyists.

Can you imagine if some of these weapons turned out to be weapons that were used in a crime? I wonder if a record was kept as to who turned in what guns and if they were legal.

Brilliant...that's what I call innovative public policy

Way to go California! JoJoFromJerz

Woah

So it started with the need for guns to kill wild animals and dangerous people for safety, 'Suddenly' it is too easy for anyone to shoot just anybody. So this has become a problem. How about a citizen 'nomination to disarm' anyone who would be an active shooter? You know...

Buy back implies the state sold you the gun and you actually want to sell.

Back in the 90’s LAPD did a so-called gun buy back. They stopped after they realized people were bringing in just purchased brand new cheap Chinese guns by the case and making 1000’s $ off their programs that did nothing.

What's sadder is if they were to offer it again, they'd run out again

I should give out gas cards for guns 🤔

Stupid as hell so what you going to do if somebody breaking your house

Lol

Well, it is Commiefornia

I would pay any one of these people more than that for a .45. How's $60 sound?

I would like to see what kind of guns they received. If it's anything like the others, it's mostly rusty old rifles that they wouldn't dare shoot again or broken gun parts

I’m sure all the criminals turned their guns in. 😂😂😂.

Something wonderful coming out of high gas prices. That's awesome. I choose to believe this will save lives.

How many of those guns actually worked? LOL

shannonrwatts Unfortunately gun buyback programs are shown to ineffective. The get the gift, and then go get more guns

Hey , gimmicks do not work!! If you that desperate… you are in trouble !

Ahhh.. so you have to starve them first and then trade for their guns. BRILLIANT. Nothing about this is creepy and weird.

Im sure all of the criminals turned in their weapons huh?

shannonrwatts I needed that

Basic human services, America. Promote peace, and offer assistance.

I am curious how many of those were... acquired... for less than the gift card cost.

nice!!!

JamaicaConstab New strategy

I bet 50% of those were Hi-Points.

Except that the gift cards come nowhere near being equal to the value of the gun!

JonahDispatch Economics of Choice Architecture at work 🔥🔥

Go national!

Next it will be for food

So, if I steal my neighbor's gun, I can turn it in for a $45 gift card? Sounds awesome

More of this please.

JonahDispatch Yeah, all 3 gift cards were handed out immediately.

People stealing guns to get free gas

Wow.

Way to pay for the busted ones that don't work lol

BenTestani

now how will they get gas when the world becomes a mad max wasteland?

A business isn’t going to take on that unnecessary expense . That’d decision would be based on a humanitarian effort not a business one & TOPs is for profit.🧵 Hatred by extremists and easy access to guns is part of the problem. We need to confront the extremists (Trumpers).

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesIt's not the age requirement that is the problem. It's far right indoctrination of young white incels who are mad at society. We need to address the White Supremacy factor. If we do that then the shootings stop. No one should This is asking the wrong question. Restricting by age is bullshit. 18 is the age of majority. The real question is: should there be a requirement to prove mental fitness to purchase or possess semi auto rifles regardless of age? (Yes).
