RadioDiaries Any reason you left out the amazing Chinese maker RealSexyCyborg that actually fabricated the things from the article ?

RadioDiaries As a long listener to lots of and radiotopia podcasts (radio diaries, planetmoney , embedded, Roughly ). It baffles me that RadioDiaries falied to acknowledge or mention the crucial part of the Naomi RealSexyCyborg in your latest podcast just because she is not from USA

RadioDiaries There are very few negative-pressure ventilators. The iron lung is one and there's also a cuirass style one that is very uncomfortable to sleep in by many accounts. Positive pressure ventilation, what many think of now when they think of ventilators, has drawbacks.

RadioDiaries This polio vaccine sad, sad story should be a wake up to all anti vaxxers out there refusing to accept science. This poor woman has been in an 'iron lung' for decades because the polio vaccine was not available at the time she 'caught polio.' There are Covid vaccines now. Get it.

RadioDiaries “Her most immediate need is collars. The [iron lung] collars create the critical airtight seal around the neck. Each one lasts only for a few months. And she has bought all the back stock of collars from places that don't produce them anymore.” TheRepairShop

RadioDiaries great listen

RadioDiaries I'm so glad that the non vaxers and non makers were not living back then,we would still be suffering from polio.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesLife is very uncertain regardless. Fairly certain the last two years of radical uncertainty (mostly propagated by irrational fear) already demonstrated that humans can’t handle it. No. We don’t like people acting as if we can change climate. We don’t like that dirtiest countries like China and India are not an issue for leftists but they bitch about the US and what we need to do.

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesWondered this myself for a long time. It’s subtle shade promoting the idea that “good looking” people, as defined by Hollywood, are good humans, while “ugly” or scarred individuals are evil. Classic evidence of sca-racism Thought it’s supposed to represent someone who’s been through trauma
