NPR Choice pageBeen doing that for years now. It does help. If you don't for a few days, you'll find the damaged area so stiff it'll be hard to get up. I wasn't living with chronic pain, but I was really unhealthy for a while (panting and lightheaded after walking up a flight of stairs). My first and most important step toward better health was (and still is) walking. I live with chronic pain. Walking helps me to keep moving, yes, but does it help pain? Not for me, but I keep walking.
