El club presentó una apelación argumentando que —la comisión no consideró como un factor mitigante, los 47,5 millones de libras por la venta del jugador Brennan Johnson poco después de que concluyó el periodo de tres años evaluado y por lo tanto debieron suspender toda o parte de la deducción de puntos.
