Turkey has recently showcased its homegrown next-gen fighter jet, the TF-X, as well as, a new stealth drone and supersonic trainer jet.

, its first fighter jet made in Turkey. This is a big step toward the country's goal of becoming self-sufficient in the defense industry.

The TF-X started taxi trials on March 16, 2023. It was supposed to go with Turkey's fleet of F-35 stealth fighters, but that plan was scrapped after Turkey bought S-400 surface-to-air missile systems from Russia. The TF-X is a twin-engine fighter jet that falls between the US's F-22 and F-35 in size and closely resembles the former. Development has been bumpy, as partnerships with Russia, Sweden, South Korea, the UK, and Pakistan were not explored.

Like South Korea's similar KF-X indigenous fighter, the TF-X reportedly falls short of being a true stealth fighter. However, a complete stealth configuration is planned for a third production block.

Turkey's parliament ratifies Finland's membership in NATOTurkey’s parliament has ratified Finland’s application to join NATO, lifting the last hurdle to the Nordic country’s long-delayed accession into the Western military alliance. All 276 lawmakers present voted in favor of Finland’s bid Thursday, days after Hungary’s parliament also endorsed Helsinki’s accession. Alarmed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a year ago, Finland and Sweden abandoned their decades-long policy of nonalignment and applied to join the alliance. Full unanimity is required to admit new members into the 30-member alliance and Turkey and Hungary are the last two NATO members to ratify Finland’s accession. Sweden’s bid to join the alliance, meanwhile, has been left hanging, with both Turkey and Hungary holding out despite expressing support for NATO’s expansion. 👏🙏🇫🇮❤️ Awesome!!
