Gavin Newsom is pushing a fuel sales tax amidst recent spikes in fuel prices. A tax meant to draw from the fuel profits of major companies, many worry that the result may be higher prices for consumers. More info:

SAN DIEGO – Gas prices rose by a record 84 cents in just ten days in the month of October.

Gov. Gavin Newsom has recently suggested a raise in taxes on gas sales, meaning corporations would be taxed on their profits. While this isn’t meant to hurt the pocket of the consumer, corporations may adjust by raising prices even further. Assemblyman Vince Fong of the 34th Assembly District joined KUSI’s Logan Burnes to discuss how the new tax will affect the market.

At least he's not afraid of Big Oil. If they raise prices, tax them again and again and again. The consumer needs to be in charge not rich corporations.

the march to control climate change never ends its just another way to accomplish it?

given the fact that cat doesn't do anything right, yeah I'm believing it won't work out for us.

So Thai is how government gets their money back. I saw $300 payback and now taxes forever on fuel

Newsome is incompenent.

He’s just so (words that when I tweet them twitter gives me shit about)…so many words….

Newson like all Democrats really believe that taxing every one is the solution !!

He needs the extra money. The French Laundry restaurant raised prices.

He says we will get $ because gas fees are so high. The $ is already coming from tax payers so he's basically paying us with our own $ but won't lower the gas fees/taxes and wants to even increase it. I mean seriously? Don't understand DEM logic!

Newsom made the right decision. wants the oil corporations to pay no taxes at all and continue to price gouge all of us.

Marxist math.

How about opening up the Keystone pipeline, allowing the US to be SELF reliant instead of begging corrupt Venezuela for oil?!?

This will never work. Let's get this con man out of there in november. Vote Brian Dahle for gov

Jesus, stop taking our money!!!

Newsom and the democratic supermajority always tell voters we're not the ones to pay the tax. Here we are at almost $7/gal while the average is under $4. Anyone think we are being lied to?

I guess he needs to collect more tax money to hand out the “rebate” he promises? 🤡🤡🤡

Does KKKUSI report on anything other than gas prices? Propaganda trash heap.

Well of course it will. Or they will stop producing gas. Either way it's a disaster.

There needs to be some regulation. Even with the war in Ukraine, crude oil prices today are cheaper than they were in 2008. The companies are just price gouging and no one is doing anything about it.

ShawnQuinn83 Newsom wants to tax everything so he can turn around and give the money to lazy dumb people in exchange for their vote.

Sorry California. You had your chance to recall this clown and you blew it.
