The upcoming 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' movie will continue the legacy of the messianic ape Caesar, as a new ape leader adopts his name. Set 300 years after Caesar's death, the film will follow a young ape named Noa as he enters an ape kingdom led by a tyrannical bonobo named Proximus Caesar, who has weaponized electricity and hunts humans.

While Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set 300 years after the death of the messianic ape Caesar , his legacy has persisted across the centuries, as evidenced by the new ape leader adopting his name. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will pick up the rebooted timeline that began with 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes and its two sequels.

Each of those movies follows a different stage in the journey of the ape Caesar, who is largely responsible for the evolution and advancement of apes on Earth.
