SALT LAKE CITY — Two gas leaks have forced multiple closures on multiple heavily-trafficked roads in Salt Lake City's Thursday.The first is located at State Street between 600 South and 800 South, which has been shut down in both directions after a 6-inch gas line was struck. Both directions at 700 South from West Temple to 200 East are also closed.
It's not known what hit the line, but it is believed to have been a back hoe that was operating in the area.The Utah Department of Transportation says the road will remain closed until repairs are completed, which is estimated to take up to an hour. Just before 2 p.m., the Salt Lake City Fire Department reported a separate gas leak at 1600 East and 2100 South near Sugar House Park. Official said 2100 South has been shut down between 1300 East and 1800 East.
