Dejaune Ludie Anderson , 37, is wanted on murder charges in the death of her son, 5-year-old Cairo Jordan . ( Indiana State Police)(ISP) said Dejuane Anderson, mother of Cairo Jordan , was located by U.S. Marshalls on Thursday and arrested in Arcadia, California . She was arrested on a warrant out of Washington County , Indiana that was issued in October 2022. Charges listed include murder, neglect of a dependant resulting in death (level 1 felony, and obstruction of justice (level 6 felony).
Indiana State Police Detective Matt Busick received information from a concerned citizen earlier in the week which led to locating Anderson in California, officials said. ISP worked with U.S. Marshalls in California who were able to identify and arrest Anderson as she was trying to board a public transit train. The body of 5-year-old Jordan was found in April 2022 when a man hunting for mushrooms found a suitcase in a heavily wooded area in rural Washington County. A month after the boy's death, an autopsy determined he died from electrolyte imbalance likely due to gastroenteritis, which is vomiting and diarrhea that led to fatal dehydration, the A second suspect, Dawn Elaine Coleman, was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty in November 2023 to conspiracy to commit murder
