A Mobile man who launched two different unsuccessful constitutional challenges in federal firearms charges before admitted his guilt in September will go to not have to go to prison, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.

) - A man who launched two different unsuccessful constitutional challenges in federal firearms charges before admitted his guilt in September will go to not have to go to prison, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.

The charges stem from an encounter between Jackson and police on Aug. 9 in the area of Midway and Weinacker avenues near Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Federal prosecutors later charged him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. “Not just one, but several of Anthony’s friends and family members have been gunned down without cause,” he wrote. “The letters ‘RIP’ are etched into his skin, a constant reminder of the loss around him. … But Anthony cannot take the same steps for protection as his neighbors do, and it is difficult for Anthony to feel safe and as a convicted felon.”
