PHOENIX — A man has been hospitalized after being shot by Phoenix police officers Tuesday morning near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Phoenix police say they were called to the area for people requesting assistance for an unknown reason before 7 a.m. When police arrived, officers say they were confronted by a man with a gun. The man allegedly opened fire on the officers, who returned fire, hitting him at least once. No officers were injured in the shooting.Video from the scene showed a large police presence in a residential area, including an armored vehicle.Police say 19th Avenue and other side streets in the area will remain closed as they investigate.
