After Michigan's Secretary of State issued a ban Friday on the open carry of firearms near polling places, Republicans accused the administration of Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of attempting to intimidate voters.
"Fair, free and secure elections are the foundation of our democracy," Benson said."I am committed to ensuring all eligible Michigan citizens can freely exercise their fundamental right to vote without fear of threats, intimidation or harassment." "The right to vote and the right to keep and bear arms are not mutually exclusive. No voter should be forced to choose between these fundamental principles. There's no way her ban passes constitutional muster," he added."I have no doubt a lawsuit will be forthcoming."

Why the hell would you need a weapon at a poll, let alone a firearm? If you need your gun with you at all times in order to feel safe, then the problem isn't with whether or not you have your gun. Just leave it in the car. You're not shooting the ballot in lieu of a pen!
This is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard all day. These people can definitely leave their gun at home and go to vote.
