Mercedes-Benz has partnered with robotics company Apptronik to trial the use of humanoid robots in automating low skill, physically challenging, manual labor tasks. The pilot program will explore how Apptronik 's bipedal robot, Apollo, can inspect and deliver components to human production line workers. This follows a similar pilot announced by BMW earlier this year.
The use of humanoid robots would allow vehicle manufacturers to automate manufacturing tasks without the need for facility redesign. The agreement details and number of robots being trialed have not been disclosed
