McDonald’s burger recipe changes include meltier cheese, saucier Big Mac

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sure, you can get a fancier burger at Shake Shack or Five Guys. But for me, the perfect fast-food burger remains the McDonald’s Big Mac.

• Juicier, caramelized flavor from adding white onions to the patties while they’re still on the grill “We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever,” said chef Chad Schafer, Senior Director of Culinary Innovation at McDonald’s USA, in a statement.
