A man who was accused of distributing a large amount of fentanyl from his New Jersey home, and leading police on a bicycle chase before his arrest, has been convicted by a jury, Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds said Tuesday.
The jury returned the verdict on Monday, finding Kevin Davis, 37, of Atlantic City, guilty on 15 all counts including first-degree maintaining a fentanyl production facility and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun in the furtherance of fentanyl production and distribution, prosecutors said.
Detectives executed a search warrant at his home in Oct. 2019, finding a “substantial” amount of fentanyl, paraphernalia used to package and label the drug and a handgun with a high-capacity magazine and ammunition, officials said. He was prohibited from owning a firearm due to a previous conviction, authorities said.
Davis fled his home on a bicycle after officers attempted an arrest, officials said. He was later apprehended in close proximity to a school and was found to be in possession of 100 folds of packaged fentanyl, which led to additional charges, prosecutors said. Our journalism needs your support.
