Edrick H. Brooks, 56, was found unresponsive in his cell about 2:40 a.m. by a corrections officer. He had been booked into the jail on Thursday. A booking report does not indicate his charges.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man died Friday while in custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail, according to county officials.

The office of the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine Brook’s cause of death. When Brooks was found, there were no signs of foul play or trauma, according to city officials. Brooks is the third person to die while in custody at the jail this year. On Nov. 1,In October, a man died in the sally port before he was booked into the jail. His death was ruled an overdose by the medical examiner’s office.
