Man charged after 61-year-old victim fatally hits head following being struck Dowdell was standing on a sidewalk on March 29 around 6 p.m. near East Whittier Street and Parsons Avenue near a bus stop when Hunt allegedly struck Dowdell in the upper body, according to court documents.
Police said the hit caused Dowdell to fall backward and strike his head on the roadway. He was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition but never regained consciousness and died of his injuries around five hours later. Hunt has a crime history dating back to 2008. He was most recently in Common Pleas Court in 2020 when he pleaded guilty to a receiving stolen property charge. He was on Community Control until December 15, 2023.
