Man arrested in connection with shooting that left a man critically injured in Bunnell

BUNNELL, Fla.Police said Putnam County deputies arrested Antarius Henderson on Friday in Palatka in connection with the shooting.On March 16, officers and deputies responded to a report of a man shot on E. Drain Street. Police said a 19-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and near the hip and was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Early investigation indicated a fight between two men broke out on South Anderson Street. Police said that Henderson, the man arrested, was one of the two men involved in the fight.Henderson walked over to a silver car parked and he allegedly started shooting, according to police. The 19-year-old man who was shot was a bystander, police said.

Police said following the shooting, no one in the immediate neighborhood came forward to provide information as to who was involved or what occurred, and they had just a few leads.In addition, thanks to an almost $300,000 investment to install cameras in the neighborhood, called “pole cameras,” police were able to identify, locate and make an arrest in connection with this shooting.

Police said there was a big motivation to get those pole cameras added after two different deadly drive-bys that happened in the same neighborhood two years ago that are still under investigation.Copyright 2024 by WJXT News4JAX - All rights reserved.
