Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Friday said linking the production ...

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Friday said linking the production of palm oil to deforestation was “baseless, unfair and unjustified”, and that the industry has grown responsibly.

The European Union passed a law earlier this year to phase out palm oil from renewable fuels by 2030 due to deforestation concerns. At least 50% of all deforestation between 2005 and 2015 in Borneo - an island shared by Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei - was related to oil palm development, the IUCN has said.

Mahathir also said Malaysia was focused on improving productivity and yields of oil palm, rather than expanding land.

Acting according the new Bolsonaro doctrine

If what the Malaysian government states in the article is true (a big 'if'), they seem to be trying to protect both their jobs and the environment. Four important words: I could be wrong.

Off course it's Baseless. Anyone observant knows it's just smear from certain vegetable (soy) oil producers to take out the competition.

Don’t believe it one bit!

It is really easy to not buy products with palm oil, by the way.

chedetofficial well, that’s as believable as Balsanaro saying the NGO s set fire to the amazon. Fascism is all the rage from Rio to Redang.

I suppose the trees just decided to run off...?
