Mayoral candidate Daniel Lurie wants to demand more from city contractors to address the pervasive feeling that San Francisco spends a lot of money on projects and programs and doesn’t always get what it expects in return.

Lurie, one of several prominent candidates challenging Mayor London Breed, has attempted to distinguish himself from a field of moderate candidates as a City Hall outsider by promising to take the reins and shake things up. While Breed, former Mayor Mark Farrell, and Supervisor Ahsha Safai have decades of experience in elected office between them — Lurie has never so much as campaigned.
