Former Mayor Frank Jordan waded into the mayoral race on Wednesday by officially endorsing Daniel Lurie.
“He has the ability, the integrity, the clarity of vision, the determination, and the tireless energy to restore San Francisco to its rightful position as a world-class city,” Jordan said. Mayor London Breed declared a 90-day state of emergency in 2021 following negotiation with the Board of Supervisors, which under the city charter must approve it. The declaration was used to open the Tenderloin Center, which was intended to link people suffering from addiction and homelessness to services but served as a de facto supervised drug consumption site. It closed in 2022.
