Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher David Price opts out of 2020 Major League Baseball season

Major League Baseball's summer camps are up and running in hopes of starting the season July 23, but that doesn't mean every player will commit to playing through a pandemic.Price, who turns 35 next month, announced Saturday that he will opt out of the 2020 season, citing concern for his health and that of his family's. He is the sixth player to opt out of the season — and the most prominent and highest-paid to date.

"After considerable thought and discussion with my family and the Dodgers," Price wrote on Twitter,"I have decided it is in the best interest of my health and my family's health for me to not play this season. I will miss my teammates and will be cheering with them throughout the season and on to a World Series victory. I'm sorry I won't be playing for you this year, but look forward to representing you next year.

“The Dodgers fully support David’s decision to sit out the 2020 season," the club said in a statement."We have been in constant contact with David and we understand how much this deliberation weighed on him and his family. We know he’ll be rooting hard for the club every day and look forward to having him back with us in 2021."

Cut his pay to zero until he produces something
