Long awaited Eastside Link light rail 2 line opens, Seattle connection expected in 2025

A look at the Sound Transit Link light rail 2 Line station in Bellevue on April 22, 2024. “It represents an opportunity for all people to get around in our community regardless of their income, regardless of where they live,” Sound Transit Executive Project Director Jon Lebo stated.

Parking will be available at South Bellevue, BelRed and Redmond Technology stations, according to Sound Transit. The line was originally expected to open at the same time as a cross-lake connection to Seattle. However, a contractor for Sound Transit has had to re-do thousands of concrete blocks for the train service, meaning starting over from scratch.The cross-lake connection is on track for an opening in late 2025 with a drop dead date in 2026, according to King County Councilmember and Sound Transit Board Member Claudia Balducci.
