Tyrrell Hatton said he went back and forth over his decision to join LIV Golf, finally signing his deal on the eve of the first event in Mexico in February. He’s among the 13 players in the Masters field who is a member of the LIV Golf League.
But in making the switch, Hatton also made clear he still wants to be part of the 2025 Ryder Cup, where he had an undefeated partnership with Jon Rahm last September.“I know the situation with the PGA Tour is a lot more difficult. But I spoke to the DP World Tour and expressed my desire to continue playing on the tour. I mentioned the tournaments that are special to me, and that I wanted to be a part of future Ryder Cup teams.
Hatton added: “The fact there is potential for the sides to come together made the decision a little bit easier to make to be honest. It goes without saying it was a tough decision. You don’t know if, when you try something new, it’s the right thing to do but no regrets. You make your decision and get on with it. I’m happy.’’Several Masters participants were on the grounds Sunday to play the course following the conclusion of the Drive, Chip & Putt competition.
