The truth about the student loans is that they are morally bankrupt. Not the students. The schools and the banks that loaned the money. When the government guaranteed the loans the banks were free to shell out as much money as possible for little expectation of payback.

Debt is money that you owe. Borrowed. Taxes are variable and are not debt. They are not synonymous and can't be compared.
There is no such thing as student loan “forgiveness.” The government did not provide the loans. Therefore, they can’t “forgive” the loans. The only thing the government can do is pay off the loans using taxpayer dollars — in other words, loan redistribution.

IF we forgive student loans. All loans forgiven should be audited to ensure that the money was wholly used on educational expenses or meet the guidelines of the loans in the first place. So many people used it for everything except education. Ever heard of a refund check?
