'From the little details to the big picture, it looks like Auburn may have missed its window of opportunity to make something of this season when it decided to let Harsin return,' guest columnist Kevin Scarbinsky writes.

That’s what Bryan Harsin said, buff, brash and full of chest, back at SEC Media Days in July. He dissed and dismissed last winter’s “inquiry” into his fitness to lead the Auburn football program.

One day that quote may lead his Auburn obit. Who could argue with any conviction if we beat the rush and started writing it today after Penn State 41, Auburn 12? Too soon? Or too little, too late? From the little details to the big picture, it looks like Auburn may have missed its window of opportunity to make something of this season when it decided to let Harsin return.

The first Jordan-Hare Stadium visitor ever from the Big Ten handed the home team its worst home loss in a decade. Gene Chizik already had one foot out the door in 2012 when Georgia blanked Auburn 38-0.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.

Barner logic: pile on the bandwagon and assassinate our new coaches character, immediately forget and rally behind him in the off season to make ourselves feel better, take our first loss to an out of conference opponent at home in over a decade, cry and call for his head.

The problem isn't the coach. I believe it is the woke administration blocking implementation of discipline on the football team. Been that way since 2011. Don't listen to the sports media on this.

It’s odd how the media abuses Auburn for changing coaches so often but yet Scarbinsky is asking the question if it’s time for Auburn to change coaches beginning Harsin’s year 2.

Careful what you wish for. What kind of decent coach would want to go to that shit show Auburn is?

The season was doomed before it started no matter who the coach was and you don’t pay that buyout unless you know the next guy can do the job. They have to nail the hire too given where both Bama and UGA are. They’re right to wait and make sure their next move is a sound one.

You know what the difference is between an 8 year old Alabama fan and a 100 year old Auburn fan? The 8 year old has seen more championships. RollTide

Bryan Harsin addresses job security after Auburn blown out by Penn StateBryan Harsin entered the season on the hot seat, and his first loss of Year 2 did nothing to cool those temperatures. Embarrassing loss at home. But Auburn is still paying Gus his buyout, so they have to keep Harsin a little while longer. They wouldn't want 2 buyouts at the same time. He’s gone. It’s just a matter of which week. His only supporter got fired. If you honestly feel this team was prepared and competitive you are on drugs.
