Bryan Harsin entered the season on the hot seat, and his first loss of Year 2 did nothing to cool those temperatures.

“I’m always coaching for this football team, alright, and these players, No. 1,” Harsin said. “I can’t control that . I can control what I do each and every day. What I’ve always done is coach for this team, these players, these coaches, make sure I’m doing my job, having our team prepared and all that. I don’t control any of those other things other than what I do each and every day.”

then-athletics director Allen Greene hired Harsin away from his alma mater, Boise State, in a power move that went against the wishes of some of Auburn’s most powerful boosters. He planted his flag, with players rallying behind him in support, and he ultimately emerged from the saga unscathed. At SEC Media Days in July, he called the situation uncomfortable, unorthodox and ultimately unsuccessful, but wanted to put it behind for good and focus on the future.Auburn entered this season with lowered outside expectations, picked to finish last in the SEC West.

It also produced a fifth straight loss for the team against Power 5 competition: Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Alabama last season, and Penn State this year. Despite the result, Auburn captain John Samuel Shenker said the team is still “100 percent” behind Harsin and “totally bought in.”

If you honestly feel this team was prepared and competitive you are on drugs.

He’s gone. It’s just a matter of which week. His only supporter got fired.

Embarrassing loss at home. But Auburn is still paying Gus his buyout, so they have to keep Harsin a little while longer. They wouldn't want 2 buyouts at the same time.
