JON JOHNSON Ken Klinger, who has won two state championships in the past four years as the girls basketball coach at LaGrange Academy, hopes to bring the same sort of success to Houston Academy.
A high school graduate of Saint James of Montgomery, Klinger played two years of college basketball at AUM and two at Huntingdon College, where he spent the 1999-2000 school year as a student assistant coach once his basketball eligibility was over. “He knows me well and we got to talking about the opportunity,” Klinger said of taking the HA job. “When I went down there, it was just an amazing school and environment. The community was so nice … and the Head of School and all the teachers I met … it just felt like a fit for our family.”“I have had the opportunity to work with Ken in the past and his passion and love of elementary PE was always evident,” Browning said during a release on the school website.
“To me, that all comes down to our discipline, which comes down to doing things the right way at the right time all of the time. It’s not going to happen overnight, but I feel like if I can develop a culture about our team coming together, we’ll eventually become successful.
