It's not a surprise though. His character was a family oriented public servant trying to raise his daughter and mourn his wife. They fired the family except for his kid, then she got another gig, so all the depth of the character is gone and it's another procedural show.
What on Earth is going on there? The cast keeps leaving!
This is a great opportunity to have representation at the helm, with a bit of drama sprinkled in for dramas sake. Promote Barnes, and Gaines sticking around would be natural.
