Jon Stewart, former host of “The Daily Show,” is reportedly making a return to TV, hosting an hourlong current-affairs series on Apple TV+.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news Tuesday, saying the show is part of an extensive, multiyear deal with Apple Inc.’s AAPL, +1.34% streaming service. Stewart will reportedly serve as executive producer for the as-yet-unnamed series, and the deal includes the possibility for making more shows from Stewart’s production company.

The show could be a significant addition to Apple TV+’s lineup, which has struggled to find a “must-see” series amid tough competition from rival streaming services. Unlike its rivals, Apple TV+ has no library of third-party series and movies to bolster its slim lineup of original offerings. On Tuesday, Apple TV+ also greenlit a high-profile new comedy series starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, according to Deadline.

Jon Stewart returns to TV with new current affairs show for Apple TV+Jon Stewart will host a new current affairs series for Apple TV+. It will be the first time he's had his own regular show since leaving 'The Daily Show' in 2015. Please don't let that be another remake that destroys the spirit, integrity and legacy of the original. Does he plan on being funny or will it be a full on extreme left wing activist show? We’re sick of the latter, and nobody is fooled by this decades old corrupted progressive movement. Why is he so hot now?
