Members of the Jan. 6 committee are quietly examining thousands of internal documents that shed new light on what officials did and didn’t know before the Capitol riot.

Blue / Bloomberg via Getty Images fileTwo things were clear to Donell Harvin, homeland security and intelligence chief for the city of Washington, D.C.,One was that a large number of people, including extremists with a history of violence, had vowed on social media to bring weapons to his city to protest the ceremonial congressional certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

Those documents, committee aides and other officials familiar with them tell NBC News, shed new light on questions that have only been partially answered so far, including what intelligence came into the FBI, DHS and other agencies in the weeks before Jan. 6, why no formal bulletin was issued, and why more wasn’t done to make sure the Capitol Police understood and were prepared forInside the January 6th committee, color-coded teams are examining various elements of the attack.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, an appointee of President Biden who was not in charge of the department on Jan. 6, 2021, has acknowledged that the department “could have done more to shore up information in the lead up to Jan. 6,” as he put it in a roundtable with reporters this week. She added: “While we are constantly evaluating our response to critical incidents — especially after an attack of historic proportion — the FBI took the threat of violence during the events of Jan. 6 seriously and prepared accordingly. The FBI will continue to pursue threats or acts of violence without fear or favor, regardless of the underlying motivation or sociopolitical goal.”that the FBI was made aware of many threats of violence aimed at Jan. 6, including against the Capitol.

a few years ago to pass along threats to Sena’s agency, he said. Most of them were forwarded to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, Sena told NBC News. But local agencies got very little useful intelligence back from the FBI, Sena said — even though the FBI says it cultivates informants in far-right and other extremist groups across the nation, and has open investigations that allow it to monitor communications.

January 6th will live on in infamy as a day worse than 9/11, a day that shows that white supremacy and republicans are the biggest threat to this country

And yet, they won’t release the videos

The vast majority of the insurrectionist were White Americans, is it no wonder they're being handled with kid gloves-- White privilege! Enough already, take the gloves off, throw the book at them and send a message. Dammit!

The lying media keep calling it an insurrection well the facts are no one has been charged with insurrection! It was a riot!

All thanks to God who brings her to my life 🙏🙏KATHERINE_315 Who is putting out really cool contact with lots of tips on how to make money online

Sip and Paint Sip and Paint

And this is exactly what the GOP wanted to obstruct by denying the bipartisan commission that would have provided more funding for more resources & lawyers. They blocked the funding for it. That equals obstruction. NeverForgetJanuary6th

Now is the time to arrest & prosecute Trump and reassert 'the rule of law--' that no one is above the law. To do anything less would only infuse Trump supporters into believing their 'Lost Cause' is justified and 'White privilege' is the rule of law. Arrest & prosecute Trump NOW!

AG Merrick Garland says Justice Department has 'no higher priority' than investigating Jan. 6 Capitol riotAttorney General Merrick Garland said the Justice Department has “no higher priority” than bringing to justice those who were involved in last year's January 6th Capitol Hill riots. If you don't realize the seriousness of this, you might be a trump supporting fox viewer. Great reporting fox. I watched the live coverage with shock, fear, anger and confusion. I cried when I saw the Confederate flag inside our US Capitol building. And I still feel that range of emotions every time I think about that day.

Neal Katyal: ‘We’re all hoping from reassurance’ from AG Garland on Jan. 6'Nobody's asking Merrick Garland to get up in his speech tomorrow and announce indictments against Donald Trump and his pals,' Neal Katyal says. 'But we are all hoping for some reassurance from him that he's investigating all leads.' I think it's tricky situation all around. He can't say the DOJ wants to ask Justice Thomas about his wife bussing in insurrectionists while the SCOTUS is considering Trump's request to withhold information. Right now AG Garland has enough proof to charge Trump and his coup co-conspirators and convince a jury of their intentions and guilt. Democracy demands that Trump et al be punished otherwise they are above the law and our democracy below the level that can be repaired.

The January 6th Criminal Case Against Donald TrumpThe unprecedented nature of Donald Trump’s actions—together with vague laws, legal loopholes, and his manipulation of others—could allow the former President to escape being criminally charged for his role in events surrounding the January 6th attack. Or so he’d like to think but … I say stuff like this and I get blocked by Mueller, She Wrote for 'doom shit.' Here's my doom shit. America has no problem incarcerating young black men for any number of insignificant “crimes” but finds it impossible to indict a rich white man for an attempted coup? If you want to understand white privilege you can start there.
