Around the time of his separation from his first wife, he realized he was a religious person after decades of being an atheist.

Columnist David Brooks speaks at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. . By Sarah Pulliam Bailey Sarah Pulliam Bailey Reporter covering religion Email Bio Follow April 29 at 7:00 AM In the world of national columnists, David Brooks is a star. But in the last few years, the New York Times writer and author has whipped up fascination among a certain subset of readers for a specific, gossipy reason: They wonder if the Jewish writer has become a Christian.

“If Jews don’t want me as a Jew, they’re going to have to kick me out. On the other hand, I can’t unread Matthew,” Brooks said, citing Jesus’s Beatitudes as the “ultimate road map for life” in the book. He still hesitates to accept some Christians’ interpretations that sex is only appropriate between a man and woman inside of marriage, calling himself enthusiastically pro-gay marriage.

Would Brooks consider himself a Messianic Jew, part of a controversial modern movement of people who embrace elements of Judaism and believe Jesus is the Messiah? He said he doesn’t know enough about it, but he would probably say no. “Do I personally wish he would remain fully in the Jewish fold? Of course,” he said. “My job is not to enforce how someone lives.”

“The Internet is cruel,” she said in an interview. “It combines into the perfect Hollywood story in a bad way.” Did Brooks, who has not been baptized, experience a specific conversion moment, a common experience for many Christians? The gossip during the past few years in many Christian circles was almost giddy as people wondered, “Could he become one of us?”

He’s a man of faith!

Does it matter?

Nobody cares.

It's like David Brooks is waffling and indecisive about nearly everything.

He's an elitist and disconnected from the common man. I don't care about what God he worships.

Duh i care? Hell noh.

Who cares... he's the Oracle Of Wrong!

Judging by his teeth... Jewish.

Why am I supposed to care about this? I don’t.

Fuck, this is some breakthrough reporting...too bad you get offended at learning new skills

No one cares

Who the hell is that is he important?

Isn’t the same?

No big deal. He believes the same as many of is in the liberal and mainstream Christian Church.

So over thinking about or with him. Always I like his set up and about 2/3rds into a column he goes entirely where I can’t fathom. Or when he goes extemp in public talks and makes those cringe-worthy asides. I want to love his great books brain. But I don’t. All done.

I grew up in a Reform Jewish household and joined the Episcopal Church as an adult. Beliefs may change over time, but ethnic/cultural identity is forever.

He is a GOP shill.

Why does it matter?

Does anyone care?

Does anyone care about David Brooks, the king of bad takes? Nah.

A nebbish

All the same . Believe- if you follow what some else - MAY HAVE SAID - you are special and always correct . Ahh ! Does take the edge off this real world - though !

'I think we are nearing a point certainly that we can't do that anymore,' he tells ABC News. I don’t care for United. He THINKS?! Humans need MORE COMFORT, NOT LESS. Aircraft architecture has to change fundamentally to do this. The only people in the way are the airlines and the aircraft manufacturers. Air travel is going to be devastated by consumer rejection.
