India issued strict new rules on Thursday for Facebook , Twitter and other social media platforms weeks after the country's government attempted to pressure Twitter to take down accounts it deemed incendiary.

The rules require any social media company to create three roles in India: a"compliance officer" who will ensure they follow local laws; a"grievance officer" who will address complaints from Indian users about their platforms; and a"contact person" available to Indian law enforcement 24/7. The companies will also have to publish a compliance report every month detailing how many complaints they received and what action they took.

India is having freedom of expression. Its called ResponsibleFreedom You are the responsible person for what you express. Spreading hate, inciting violence and riots are not FOE. Why twitter delete many accounts and tweets post violence in USA and didn't in India?

State should run country not social media & fake media run the country, period!

Rules simply state that big tech & media shops has to follow Indian laws and constitution. Is it too much to ask? Its want transparency from these corporate or you want country to run by corporate?

O wow, will the world be in uproar as well?... China saw this shit years ago

Your bias is showing. You apply different yardsticks for different countries.
