The man phoned Maj. Gen. Phillip Stewart and demanded to know if he'd had sex with his wife. Stewart replied, 'I did, yeah,' but said it was consensual.

In a phone conversation with Air Force Maj. Gen. Phillip Stewart , the husband of the woman Stewart is accused of raping demanded to know whether the general had forced himself on her and told Stewart, 'Pray you don’t see me on the street.' In the conversation, Stewart admitted to having sex with the woman, then a subordinate on his command staff, but he said his 'impression' was that it was by mutual consent.

Air Force general's accuser insists, 'I didn't consent.' Air Force investigators arranged for the husband to call Stewart and directed the man using non-verbal cues and a white board, according to Maj. Adam Hershey, an agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations who testified on Wednesday. During the call, the husband asked Stewart if he had had sex with his wife. “I did, yeah,” the general replied.

What to know about the rape case against Maj. Gen. Phillip Stewart 'Zero recollection' Stewart said the sexual encounter “came out of the blue, happened once and shouldn’t have happened at all.” When the husband asked if his wife had consented, Stewart replied, “That was my impression. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have done it.” The husband then appeared to threaten Stewart, although Hershey said the anger was feigned.
