Christopher and Ara Duke were just about to head home from Old Settler's Park Saturday night when gunshots were fired.
“I had departed for the restroom. Stepped out and heard what I thought was firecrackers,” he said. One of the bullets hit Ara. “ I just attended to her the best I could and there was no response. No. I'm just, two short breaths and nothing.”Monday, Christopher wanted to speak to the media with their 20-year-old daughter by his side.
“It’s unfortunately a loss that took away something that was important to me and my daughter just nothing I would never have thought would happen to us,” he said. Alena Holmes is newly married and pregnant and just lost her mom. “My mom, she's really smart. She teaches people new things further education,” she said.
Round Rock police said this afternoon there is no update on any arrests. Meantime, Christopher knows he is not alone in his grief and loss. “I have to give my condolences to the other victims. As well called we're both we're both suffering a loss.”
